Stump Grinding & Removal

The fastest, easiest, and cleanest way to get rid of a stump for good.

No digging · No mess · Fastest method

What "stump grinding" actually means

Instead of excavating a stump and its root system — which tears up your yard and costs a fortune — we grind it away. The stump and surface roots are reduced to a pile of wood chips, leaving the spot ready to sod, replant, or build over.

Typically a single stump is ground out in under an hour, leaving wood-chip mulch behind.

How it works

Our process, start to finish

1

Free estimate

Call or send the form. Todd reviews your stumps — many quotes happen right over the phone — with no obligation.

2

We bring the grinder

Our self-propelled Vermeer SC1152 rolls right up to the stump, even through a standard fence gate.

3

Grind below grade

The stump and surface roots are ground a few inches below the surface, so the area is ready to be reused.

4

Heavy work done

We pack up the equipment — most stumps take under an hour. The wood-chip mulch stays behind as a free bonus you can spread or rake at your pace.

Good to know

The wood chips are yours — and that's a good thing

We focus on the heavy work — powering through the stump and roots with serious equipment. What's left is lightweight wood-chip mulch: great for garden beds and walking paths, or just rake it aside whenever it suits you. Leaving the light chips is exactly what keeps stump grinding so affordable — you skip the cost of hauling away heavy debris. Want the chips removed too? Just ask — it isn't part of our standard service, but we're glad to work it out.

How to measure your stump

Stump pricing is based on the widest point at the ground — the flared base and surface roots — not the smaller cut on top. Most folks measure the top and guess low, so don't sweat it: give us a rough number and we'll confirm the exact measurement on site.

  • Measure straight across the widest part of the base, right at ground level.
  • Include the root flare — that whole spread is what we grind.
  • Not sure? A rough guess is fine. The on-site measurement sets the final price.
